First, place your cursor inside a citation, then open the Insert citations side panel.

You’ll see your selected citation listed as a grey bar at the bottom of the window, simply click to expand the edit options.

In both Word and Google Docs, you’ll see fields for Prefix, Suffix and Suppress author. The Suffix field is the best place to insert a page number for example:
- In Word only you’ll see an additional option labeled Display as Author (year), which will change your citation from parenthetical eg (Smith 2021) to narrative eg Smith (2021). For the same effect in Google Docs you can choose the Suppress author option which will turn your citation from (Smith 2021) to just (2021) and you can type the author in manually.
